Saw something this morning that made me go Hmm.
Many "Life/Work Balance" people I have heard or watched seem to focus on the first two aspects, from a 'management' perspective. Time MANAGEMENT and FINANCIAL or BUDGET MANAGEMENT & planning.
Do you really have life/work 'balance' when your health is out of control? I've heard numerous times that there are really three things needed for a fulfilling life: TIME, MONEY & HEALTH.
But often even these Life/Work Balance speakers and coaches themselves do not set a good example for the third thing. Living HEALTHY lives that incorporate the basics of nutrition, activity, healthy weight and moderate to low physiological stress. Do you really have life balance when you don't have your health? When you are being interviewed and catching your breath after getting up on your chair is a challenge, is your message accurate?
This really makes me question the perception of LIFE BALANCE in the general population. If the 'experts' are touting their example as what people should strive for, are people actually being mislead?
Much of the time I hear how people are accepting 'just getting by' as their comfort zone. Acceptance is great in many contexts, but not when it comes to poor health, uneducated choices, an accumulation of self defeating habits and reasons or excuses. Do you really value your life more than anything else? Should you?
We have shrunk our dreams and limited our goals and assumed that things just are the way they are and we have to go along with it. But who are you actually modelling? Who are you surrounding yourself with in order to change? Who are you listening to and believing when it comes to your own capabilities and your limits?
Just curious about what YOU think about BALANCE.
